ABOUT

Hi, I'm Alicia!

My humble life in Singapore involves cooking, food styling, hitting the gym (to sweat out all
the food), reading, and travelling for new experiences. In this blog I hope to fulfil my passion
of capturing and documenting all these activities and adventures through words, images,
and videos.

I fell in love with making documentaries in 2012 when I visited Laos during summer school.
Capturing human interactions, living landscapes, and even the processes behind the lens
fascinated me. I met people from all walks of life, and managed to get a glimpse of what life
is like from their perspectives. Being able to document this little piece of life in motion was a
beautiful and transformative experience for me.

My passion for food and making documentaries combined when producing a series of short
videos on Food & Beverage (F&B) management for a University module. The films were to
enhance students' learning by having them view life from the lenses of F&B managers, head
chefs, and kitchen staffs. My love deepened through documenting, interviewing and editing
these videos; and further still with the feedback I received from colleagues and students.

I’m working now as an educational media producer and a freelance videographer. I’m trying
to follow my passion, and I’m hoping to be able to take you with me on my journey. So far
the journey hasn’t always gone smoothly, some days are wonderful successes and others...
not so much. However, over time I’ve learnt to embrace those imperfect days. I appreciate
them as they help me to change and evolve. Till today, those imperfect days and all the
uncertainty they’ve brought are some of my favourite memories.

Cooking with my loved ones is therapeutic for me and I’ve always cherish our time in the
kitchen. As a kid I learnt to cook by spending time in the kitchen with my Mum and Gran and
was raised on their homecooked dishes. All my recipes here are either passed down from
them, or inspired by eateries I frequent. I'm a strong believer in preparing hearty and
delicious homecooked food—though do accept that these qualities don’t always go hand-in-
hand hahah.

I want to say a big Thank you for stopping by! I hope that you get something out of this blog, be it a new recipe or just a happy read/distraction.

Either way, enjoy!

Sincerely,
